Muffin-mix mailer gets community service

A Strafford woman who sent a note and powder to police along with her parking ticket fine was sentenced Wednesday to 100 hours of community service.
A jury last year convicted April Bedell, 36, of creating a false public alarm — a felony — over the note, which said she hoped police got the flu, and the powder that spilled onto a Rochester parking enforcement officer.
The powder turned out to be muffin mix, which Bedell said accidentally got into the envelope while paying bills in her kitchen. She said the note wasn’t a threat, just a stupid thing to write after sneezing on the ticket and $15 check.
A Strafford County Superior Court judge also sentenced Bedell to two years of probation, a $1,000 fine and a tour of the local jail.

Please think about the violation of your constitutional rights in New Hampshire. Under this “just add powder” law, any person who doesn’t like your mailed correspondence can say you enclosed powder, and you too could be convicted of a felony. From what I know about this case, the Rochester Police had no evidence, just several officers testifying as to vastly varying amounts of powder. These officers are a brotherhood, who will back one another up under any circumstances. This is a law-abiding woman who was preparing breakfast for five children before school, one of whom was helping her on a bench beside the stove. Bush and his fear-based logic have gone too far in dealing with United States Citizens. Wake up, and smell the corruption, both locally and nationally.
Hello. Great job. This is a great story. Thanks!
