Woman says her love handles saved her life

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – A Florida woman said her love handles saved her life when she was shot entering an Atlantic City bar. Samantha Lynn Frazier said she heard two pops when she walked into Herman’s Place early Saturday. The 35-year-old then felt pain and saw blood on her hand after she grabbed her left side. Feisty puppy scares off 3 bears in NJ back yard

If only Goldilocks had a cockapoo.

A 15-pound cocker spaniel-poodle mix named Pawlee scared off a mother bear and her two cubs Sunday morning after they strayed into his owners’ back yard.

Whether his bark was worse than his bite, Pawlee’s tactic worked just fine. These three bears got the hint and took off.

“We had just let him out for the morning and he ran into the yard and started barking his head off,” owner Fran Osiason said.

Osiason said her 9-year-old son, Jacob, went outside to see what the commotion was about and came running back in to report there were bears in the yard. Read the rest of this entry →

School district investigates porn bill

School district officials are trying to identify who watched $250 worth of pay-per-view pornographic movies using a school cable television box, officials said.

Trio suspected of staging panty raid

Police were trying to pick up the trail of three people suspected of staging a panty raid this week at a Victoria’s Secret in Newport Center Mall.  The trio — two men and a woman — were able to thwart security sensors at the store because they used shopping bags lined with aluminum foil, known as “booster bags,” police said.  A security camera at the store caught the heist, but not before the trio grabbed dozens of bras and women’s panties from two display tables. Man blows whistle on pigeon-shooters

A city worker was awarded $660,000 over claims he was unfairly punished after reporting that fellow employees were shooting pigeons for fun on department grounds.

New Jersey town to set time limit on barking

The city of Clifton is not going to the dogs. At least not if the City Council has anything to do about it. Later this month, the council is expected to introduce an ordinance setting a limit on how long dogs can bark.

Noisy canines will be defined as those that bark for more than 30 minutes on two consecutive days.

The city already has nuisance and “noise laws that can be used to address annoying and disturbing noises such as constant barking.” But officials said those laws are sometimes difficult to enforce. Read the rest of this entry →
